With "Wolf & Dog", Claudia Varejão rearranges the gay teen movie cards

To recount, as at the heart of the poem, the agony of identity in a place that crushes individuality and the freedom to express gender, this is as enchanting a project as it is remarkably successful by wolf dog.

In her first feature film, the Portuguese Claudia Varejão anticipates an island film of great formal beauty that reshuffles Teen movie To better celebrate sexual and gender fluidity.

Via a portrait of three teenagers and their transition into adulthood, the story describes the difficulty of living with an alien identity in certain places, whether due to reactionary ideas or the insular character of a region, which traps corpses. Without watering down the political charge or its fury, the director subverts this violent and asymmetrical note into a softly contemplative painting, one that wonderfully conveys summer’s heat and brevity.

Filmed on São Miguel Island in the Azores, the work reaches the heights of its plastic vibrations as it blends the stunning beauty of space with the exuberant, glamorous tones of local community parties.
