With watchOS 10, Apple is making its connected watches even smarter and sportier

Apple is taking advantage of its inaugural WWDC 2023 conference to lift the veil on watchOS 10, the operating system for the connected Apple Watch.

WWDC 2023 was an opportunity for Apple to unveil some new features of watchOS 10. The operating system customized for Apple Watch is developing in depth, focusing on new practical features for everyday life, but also for athletes.

A new way to use your Apple Watch

The biggest novelty lies in the practical features. All Core Apple apps have been redesigned. But that’s not all: Apple has thought of a new way to navigate between applications and display the most useful information.

the Machine learning makes its appearance (already on iPhone since 2020), to display the information a user needs most, at the right time. Thus, the information displayed on the Apple Watch screen will vary throughout the day, depending on the habits of the watch owner. The name of this feature: Smart Stack.

Of course, new dials appear, especially with the arrival of Snoopy on the Apple Watch as well as the Palette dial that gives pride of place to color. The redesign of the app also allows support for new features, such as group calls via FaceTime audio.

Athletes do not forget

For athletes, many new features appear. We can cite a file A completely new app for cyclistswhich can measure speed and cadence, but also power, thanks to the support of Bluetooth sensors.

The iPhone can also be used as a monitor for cyclists, to display information about the current race (average speed, elevation, distance traveled, heart rate, etc.). The Apple Watch is then able to estimate the cyclist’s famous FTP (a kind of stress test), evaluating his level.

Wanderers weren’t forgotten either, with a redesigned compass dial. It now displays 3D terrain, and becomes intelligent. Displays the last known location of cellular service and the last known location where a satellite call can be placed. Simple features but very useful in high mountains.

Golfers will be happy to know that watchOS is now accurate enough to measure swing action. which should improve it.

Finally, mental health hasn’t been forgotten, with a brand new app that will allow you to take care of yourself.

watchOS 10 will be available later this year, and is compatible with all Apple watches from Apple Watch Series 4.
