Vance vs. Walz: The most important vice presidential debate in history?

Will Tuesday night's showdown between J.D. Vance and Tim Walz, the running mates of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, be the most important vice presidential debate in American history?

American historian Douglas Brinkley seems to think so.

He said in an interview with the Morning Joe program on the American network MSNBC: “I know that everyone is waiting to see the results in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but the big moment will be on October 1.”

He added: “I believe this will be the most important vice presidential debate in the history of the United States.” “This could be Trump's last chance if Vance can win on points.”

In an interview with LCN, US politics specialist Luc Laliberté said he was less convinced by this assertion, but nonetheless believed the debate between the two candidates was likely to be interesting for several reasons.

“In both cases, we focused a lot on casting both J.D. Vance and Tim Walz,” he said. J.D. Vance did not live up to his reputation and the expectations that were placed on him.

“As for Tim Walz,” he continues, “he is still relatively unknown on the national scene.” His entrance had been fairly good, except for one or two minor disagreements. “He has to stay the course.”

Mr. Laliberté believes J.D. Vance is the person who will be under the most pressure on October 1.

“Of the two of them, I think he has the most to prove or gain during this discussion,” he says. He will definitely have to be on the attack. He can't just come and watch the footage. He has to score points.”

This clash represents a great opportunity for the candidates to obtain additional votes that may be decisive in the November 5 elections.

“It's very tight,” says the US politics specialist. A slight advantage for Kamala Harris, but certainly no one will declare victory, we are very far from that. I can't wait to see how both men perform and who will please him the most, or piss him off the least.
