“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consulting with the President and the Government, are ready to transfer all their MiG-29 aircraft to the Ramstein base (in Germany, editor’s note) without delay and without charge and make them available,” the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The ministry specifies that this statement came “following a statement issued by the United States Secretary of State regarding the delivery of aircraft to Ukraine.”

Ukrainian pilots can fly the MiG-29, which was of Soviet design.

Meanwhile, Poland is asking the United States to supply it with second-hand aircraft with the same operational capabilities. Poland is ready to immediately create conditions for the acquisition of these machines. ”

The Polish government is also calling on other NATO member states – owners of MiG-29s – to follow suit.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Sunday during a visit to Moldova that the United States is “actively working” on an agreement with Poland to send fighter jets to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion.
