Russia is trying to use the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a 9-nation military alliance from the former Soviet Union, to get around sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.
Among the member states of this organization are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Armenia.
