The war in Ukraine | China leases planes to evacuate Chinese from Ukraine

(Beijing) The Chinese Embassy in Ukraine announced the organization of chartered flights to evacuate Chinese who wish to leave this country in the grip of a Russian invasion, which was not condemned by Beijing.

The embassy has started the process of registering those who want to leave Ukraine, saying it will be closed on Sunday. No details were given about the timing of the flights.

According to Beijing, there are about 6,000 Chinese in Ukraine.

“Now, the situation in Ukraine is rapidly deteriorating, and our citizens and Chinese companies in Ukraine face significant risks to their security,” the embassy said in a statement.

The embassy added, “We have started the registration to prepare the procedures for transporting chartered planes… The flight schedule will be confirmed according to the security situation of the flights, and it will be announced in advance.”

On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that China understood Russia’s “reasonable security concerns.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine, Thursday, with air strikes and ground forces entering from several axes, after weeks of futile diplomatic efforts to try to dissuade him from carrying out a military offensive.
