The science fair is open to the public on Saturdays

The Science Fair takes place May 4-6 at CAPS at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR). For the first time, the event will welcome the general public on Saturday, May 6th from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Science Fair is a unique event that brings together exhibitors from the regional science community to present and experiment with science in a festive context.

On Saturday, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover what is being done in science in the region by visiting the 20 booths on offer. The day will end with a fascinating science presentation by Yannick Bergeron, creator of the experiments for Les Débrouillards.

“A science fair is an exceptional opportunity for young and old alike: to get privileged contact with people who specialize in science and whose passion inspires. Scientific curiosity has no age and UQTR is happy to help give you opportunities to develop it,” confirms Christian Blanchett, Rector of UQTR.

On May 4 and 5, nearly 3,000 young people will come to the fair as part of school visits.

The primary mission of a science fair is to allow young people to discover science and technology by interacting with specialists and participating in experiments in fields as diverse as robotics, chemistry, physics or biology. This year, about twenty regional institutions and organizations will share their experiences with young people.

Days four and five will also be an opportunity to hold the regional finals of the ÉTS Junior Engineering Challenge (elementary) and the ÉTS Innovative Engineering Challenge (secondary), as well as the Hydro-Québec Science Fair, the core component.

More than 80 teams will compete in competitions that put young genius and creativity into action. Elementary students will try to get top honors by hitting targets with the catapult they have created. For them, the guys from high school will compete with their cars driven only by the fans who are on the edge of the track.
