Lisbon – Raul Braga Péres, a Portuguese expert in African affairs, confirmed that the speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Friday, at the opening of the autumn session of Parliament, irreversibly confirms Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
He added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press, that the royal speech highlighted “the unprecedented international support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco to resolve this artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara,” noting that “the proactive vision of His Majesty the King contributed to resolving this artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.” . The Portuguese expert also pointed out that the royal speech stressed the importance of France's clear support for Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara, an issue that represents Morocco's main national priority.
The expert added that the thanks His Majesty extended to the French President in his speech reflects the strength of this support to strengthen Morocco’s position at the international level and within the United Nations, recalling, in this context, the support previously expressed by Morocco. The United States, Spain, and many other Arab and African partners for the territorial integrity of Morocco.
Mr. Braga stressed the importance of the royal initiative aimed at enhancing the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean and the gas pipeline between Morocco and Nigeria, which will revolutionize the international energy scene. Mr. Braga pointed out that these huge continental projects strengthen the position of the South. The Kingdom's regions are a link for exchange and cooperation between Morocco and its African depth.
