“The decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the agreements with Morocco is a grave error” (Thiago Moreira de Sa, Portuguese MEP)













The decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the fishing and agricultural agreements between the European Union and Morocco has sparked real anger among members of the European Parliament. Thiago Moreira de Sa, also a professor at the New University of Lisbon and a researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations, describes the ECJ rulings as a “serious mistake.” This is why.

“The decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the agreements with Morocco is a grave mistake! Lacking representative legitimacy, the Polisario Front is undermining a crucial strategic partnership. We must strengthen cooperation with Morocco, a reliable partner, and not give in to any ideological pressure. Portugal and the EU must maintain all agreements that benefit our economic and geopolitical interests.
