The 19th edition of IndieLisboa bets on Portuguese cinema

– Starting tomorrow, the event will present a program where the National Competition section will be more comprehensive than ever

Indiesboa It is about to return to its original format for the 19th edition that was set between April 28 and May 8. This finally happens two years after the summer editions, a shift made due to the pandemic. The festival has now revealed its full program, after pre-announcing A Doris Wishman Retrospectives in Cinemateca, as well as the composition of the department of IndieMusic, Silvestre and international competitions.

The highlight of this year’s selection of 250 films is the broad national presence that permeates all sections. First, the National Competition will present a total of nine feature films – the highest number to date. This selection includes titles such as dry land burning [+lire aussi :

Sixteen short films were also selected for the National Competition. Furthermore, most IndieLisboa specials highlight Portuguese productions. For example, the festival will boast the world premiere of two films directed by Joao Botelho: a documentary film about Alvaro Cunhal (Oh jovum konhaland a cinematic adaptation of Alexander O’Neill Uma Coisa em Forma de Assim.

The opening and closing films, which are also part of the specials, once again help set the tone for this year’s strong national presence. The festival will start with a double bill: two films restored by the Filmar Project, which he directs Cinematica Portuguesa. IndieLisboa will take place in Cinema São Jorge, Culturgest, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Cinema Ideal and Biblioteca Palácio Galveias.
