It is called a “super blue moon” but it is yellowish orange in color. The term has nothing scientific to it as it is borrowed from astrology. An American astrologer gave it this name in the 1970s, to name the nights of the full moon that occur when the Earth's satellite is closest.

For their part, scientists talk about “perigee,” the moment when the moon is closest to the earth and the two planets are aligned with the sun. As a result, the brightness reflected by the star is greater than normal (more than 30%), and appears larger to the naked eye.
