Snapchat launches a web version of its messaging system for its subscribers

The very popular app now offers its own desktop messages. A novelty that enriches the content offered to subscribers, which until now was not diverse.

Snapchat, the temporary photos and videos app, will provide paying subscribers with a computer copy of its messages. This new version of the messaging, called “Snapchat for web”, will be the same as in the mobile app.

Users will be able to chat without having to take out their smartphone and make video calls with two or more people. Similarly, the user can connect from his smartphone to the PC.

The temporary “snaps” at the heart of the app will be available later, in the same way as the famous filters, which refer to the company in Press release published on Monday, July 18.

simple messaging

Passing the app that has been popular with young people on the computer strips it of its many functions, such as stories or a map. As for its launch, it is thus just a private messaging service, which in the end is very similar to what WhatsApp, Messenger, and others offer. On the other hand, the application continues to play at its discretion: conversations are blurred when the user puts the task in the background.

This new feature is currently reserved for Anglo-Saxon subscribers. It will arrive later this year in France, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, according to information from figaro. Finally, the company hints that all users, paid or not, will eventually get access.

The Snapchat paid offering, which launched at the end of June, is called Snapchat+. In France, it costs 4.59 euros per month. A way for the application to diversify its sources of income like the majority of its competitors.
