Samson Seguenebou (Portuguese Amiens): “mayonnaise is good”

Not necessarily the most informative element to force the summer conscription of the Amiens Portuguese, however, Samson Seginbo remains central to the Benoit Storbois regime. Before the short trip to Ailly, the defender assesses his start to adventure and his ambitions with the resident at Régional 2. Interview.

Samson, how are your first steps with the Portuguese Amiens?

I don’t regret my choice at all. I discovered a friendly and lively club. Besides the athlete, I would like to thank all the members of the club, whether they are staff or volunteers. We really take good care of him from a sporting point of view, the coach trusts me at the moment. It has been really positive so far. I give 100% in every training session and every match to maintain this dynamic.

What convinced you to join this club after going through AC Amiens or even US Camon?

You gave me an ambitious project! This club wants to see above and that is necessarily interesting for the competitive player I am now. Hopefully we can go far this year, however we have the means to make it happen. I think we’re ready to play at the top, but it’s up to us to prove it on the pitch.

How do you see your team’s start to the season, which has given a sense of the current rotation so far?

We got the job done against Gamaches in the first match which wasn’t easy before we beat Saint-Maximin. The defeat at Chevrières brought everyone back to reality, we experienced a real disappointment. We might have the players we want, and an R2 tournament isn’t easy and definitely not what’s going to take us to the first regional level. So it was important that we immediately bounce back against Saint Nicholas. We should be able to reproduce this kind of performance more often. We know this is the key to hopeful climbing play.

We have a feeling the puzzle is slowly starting to assemble…

That’s exactly. I think mayonnaise takes well. Micka (Mickaël Despois) and Miri (Siradjini) are gaining momentum and finding trends with the other team managers, Ryan (Da Veiga) and Jo (Jonathan Isambart). We also know we can count on Demba (Gningue) in the back to stop. We have a base to lean on and pull us up. There is a lot of talent in this team and it is up to us, the other players, to get ourselves to that level.

On a personal level, it seems that you immediately played a leading role in the defensive line…

I try to do my best and regain the coach’s confidence. You definitely feel a little pressured at first when you find yourself playing with these guys, but I’m starting to put up with my directions and feel really good.

Your next match will be against Ailly, the team that got off to a good start to the season. But regardless of the opponent, your goal is to create a chain to assert yourself a little more…

That’s exactly. We know we are waiting for every match and every journey. We have to face that, focus on ourselves and up our game a little bit more. Against San Nicolas, we were able to play at our level without taking into account who was in front of us. This is what must be reproduced in the upcoming matches to confirm this victory.
