The Man City midfielder said he would prefer Cristiano Ronaldo to be a team-mate rather than Messi.
Kevin De Bruyne prefers Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi as a teammate because the Portuguese star is “more than just a model striker”.
It’s not always easy to name the greatest player of all time, aka “the Goats”, or any other player in the sport. Several players, managers and legends have given mixed judgments about the debate between Ronaldo and Messi.
But if one had to choose who to play with, De Bruyne would pick CR7 as he and Messi play a similar role on the field.
“I would probably say Ronaldo, because he’s more than just a typical striker,” the Manchester City star told the wowhydrate sports drink brand of the star he will be collaborating with.
“Messi is always a playmaker. So, you know, because I’m a playmaker, you can give me a striker.”
Ronaldo and De Bruyne intend to return to competition on Sunday, the final day of the Premier League.
Ronaldo is preparing for Manchester United’s move to Crystal Palace, while De Bruyne is hoping to win a fourth league title by helping Manchester City beat Aston Villa.
Messi could also take part this weekend in Paris Saint-Germain’s final match in Ligue 1, at home to Metz.
