Premier League transfer record | Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez for 175 million

Portuguese club Benfica announced, on Wednesday, the sale of Argentine midfielder and world champion Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea, England, for 121 million euros ($175 million), a record in his transfer to the English Premier League.

According to the press, Fernandes signed with Chelsea until 2031.

The previous record in England was held by Manchester City during the transfer of Jack Grealish a year and a half ago (115 million euros).

This is a huge added value for the Lisbon club, who spent ten times less last August to recruit him from River Plate.

Fernandez was already courting very big European clubs at that time, and he had burst into the eyes of the whole world by winning the World Cup in Qatar with Argentina.

Chelsea, for their part, have not yet communicated about this transfer, but it brings in more than €300m the amount the Blues have spent this winter.

The Londoners had already spent 100 million euros, including bonuses, securing the services of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Modric, from Shakhtar Donetsk, or 40 million euros for Frenchman Benoit Badiachel.

This sum comes in addition to the more than €300m already spent this summer to bring in, among others, Frenchman Wesley Fofana from Leicester, Marco Cucurella from Brighton or Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

In contrast, Chelsea pulled less than €60m from the cumulative sales of Timo Werner to RB Leipzig, Emerson to West Ham or Billy Gilmour to Brighton this summer, as well as from Jorginho to Arsenal on the last day of the winter transfer window. .
