on its official website, Nintendo announces an update for Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. Accompanied by notes detailing the changes brought about by the update, there’s also an apology from Nintendo who are aware of the game’s technical and performance issues, and a promise that they are currently working on it.

We understand that players may experience issues affecting game performance. Our goal has always been to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We take player feedback seriously and work to improve the games.

The 1 GB update is now live, so it doesn’t fix performance issues, but it fixes some bugs and makes the following changes:

Version 1.1.0:

  • The first season of ranked battles will start, allowing you to enjoy ranked battles through the battlefield. Please see the in-game notice for more details on Season 1 Ranked Battles.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented music from playing correctly during battles with the Elite Four and Top Champion on Victory Road.
  • Other specific bug fixes have been made.
