Multi-device mode finally available

THE WHATSAPP. The popular instant messaging app is evolving with many new features to simplify the lives of its users. The long-awaited multi-device mode is now available to everyone for PCs, Macs, and tablets.

Launched in beta at the end of September 2021, WhatsApp’s multi-device sign-in feature has officially rolled out to more than two billion active users of the app. Now, it is possible to associate up to five devices with one WhatsApp account. Convenient to use instant messaging not only on a smartphone but also on a computer or tablet (read Our Fact Sheet).

And the process is really simplified. Until now, to enjoy WhatsApp on a device other than a smartphone, you had to keep the phone associated with the account nearby and keep it connected to the Internet. With the multi-device option, this is no longer the case. This function allows up to four additional devices to be linked to the same account without having to maintain the link with the mobile phone. So it is possible to exchange messages or make calls even if the smartphone is not connected to the Internet or simply turned off. Warning: Only computers using the desktop version of WhatsApp or the online service are affected. WhatsApp Web. On tablets, WhatsApp Web must be accessed from a browser, making sure that the display of the web page is activated in the “PC version”.

How do you use WhatsApp on multiple devices?

To be able to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices, you must first link it to the account created on your smartphone. Simple and fast procedure.

► To take advantage of this new functionality, you must first update the WhatsApp application on your smartphone to ensure that you have the latest version (Mode is available from version (2.2210.10).

Download the latest version of WhatsApp

► Once the application is updated on your smartphone, launch WhatsApp, launch it and go to the application settings (by pressing The three little dots top right robot or on gear at the bottom on iPhone), then go to Menu Connected devices.

► Press the button Yes to activate the function.

► Then press Connect a device.

► Now go to the device you want to connect with your WhatsApp account. All you have to do is follow the procedure described in Our Fact Sheet To associate this new device with your account.

► Remember, if you want to connect a tablet, make sure to use your web browser by choosing to view “PC Version” from its settings (here Firefox on an Android tablet).
