Mike Maignan's display disgusts Portuguese and saves Blues

Despite not having done much work since the start of Euro 2024, France goalkeeper Mike Maignan was called upon more often against Portugal in the quarter-finals in Hamburg on Friday. The Milan keeper made a number of saves in the second half.

At first we had a big scare. During a tense first period between France and Portugal on Friday night in Hamburg, Mike Maignan, despite being freed from all the pressure on a tri-colour back pass, failed to control the ball, letting it slip for a corner (min. 16). A lack of concentration that did not help before the French goalkeeper pulled out all the stops in the second half.

Fernandez, Vitinha, CR7 broke their teeth

Cancelo bursts in from deep, and it is Bruno Fernandes who first hits the Blues' wall, making a brilliant reflex save on the ground (61st minute). The Maignan show continues two minutes later. This time, it is Vitinha who breaks his teeth on the Frenchman from close range.

In the same move, after Maignan had saved the danger, Cristiano Ronaldo tried to backheel the ball. But this time again, the goalkeeper who has played 21 international matches intervened. Oof.
