Microsoft has just fixed a rather annoying bug in Outlook. In fact, for quite some time, it was impossible to reply to an email that contained long links. Instead of sending, an error message was displayed.

Problem with long URLs in Outlook

As specified by the manufacturer, this situation can occur with Long URLs and when processed using secure links. When Secure Links encapsulates a URL, it exceeds Outlook’s 2084 limit for URLs. As a result, the URL is broken.

Note that there are other common consequences related to this issue:

  • When you click a link, Microsoft Defender may display an error message “The page you are trying to access could not be loaded” And ” This webpage could not be loaded due to an internal error. We recommend closing this page

If you are a victim of this problem, this is good news. In fact, Microsoft has just fixed this bug with a new update for Outlook Desktop and Windows. According to the Redmond Company, This error is no longer present on the desktop version of Outlook 16116.10000.

To put an end to this concern, Microsoft has chosen a simple yet effective solution: URL limit increased from 2084 to 8192 characters. Note that this update has been available since April 4, 2023. Regarding the enterprise channel, however, the patch will be rolled out with the latest build 2302.

As a reminder, this is not the first time thatOutlook is the victim of some technical glitches. In February 2023, the spam filter was no longer working and users were overwhelmed with scams. In August 2022, a Microsoft service simply crashed when opening an email containing a table.
