The European Association for Data Science Summer School for Data Science for Social Media will take place from 15-17 June 2022 in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. On June 14, Mark Hansen, Minister Plenipotentiary for Digitalization, gave the opening speech for the Summer School launch event.
In his speech, Mark Hansen noted the importance of continuing to develop the data-driven economy and the public sector. The digitization of public administration processes and services is heavily influenced by the data revolution. Digital technologies have great potential to increase the efficiency and delivery of public services and enhance transparency and citizen confidence.
According to the Minister Delegate for Digitization, governments must use digital tools, data, and government technology to produce and deliver globally accessible, citizen-centric public services.
Finally, Mark Hansen focused on the fundamental question of data security. Indeed, the processing and exchange of data at the national level presents technical and legal challenges. In order to strike the right balance between data protection rules and the effective use of this data, it is often necessary to use anonymity and pseudonymization. As a result, in 2021 the Ministry of Digitization launched preparatory work as well as important legal work to create a national infrastructure that offers a technical solution for data processing.
