Man opens emergency exit and walks on plane wing

A man has been arrested at Melbourne Airport in Australia after reportedly opening a plane's emergency door and stepping on the wing. Several local media outlets.

The Jetstar flight had just landed in Melbourne after departing Sydney when the man opened the emergency exit, which deployed the emergency slide. However, the individual did not use it to get off the plane, but instead began walking along the wing of the plane and descending from the machine, holding onto one of the engines.

According to a passenger interviewed by local radio station 3AW, the man had been acting strangely even before the incident. In particular, he allegedly ignored the warning to keep his seatbelt fastened and ignored flight attendants who told him to stay in his seat.

“As soon as the plane started to stop, he got up and rushed towards the emergency exit, causing a stampede among other passengers and chaos on the plane,” the witness said.

As soon as he set foot on the ground, the man was intercepted by airport staff and then arrested by Australian police and taken to hospital for examination by doctors.
