Madi’s case: This facial recognition software is “90% sure” that the young German is not the lost little one

A few weeks ago, Julia, a young German woman, claimed to be Maddie McCann, this Briton who disappeared in 2007 in Portugal. But according to Ava-X, an artificial intelligence program, Julia is not a materialist.

Since May 3, 2007, the case has not been resolved. On a family vacation at a luxury resort in Praia da Luz in Portugal, Maddie McCann, who was 4 at the time, was sleeping peacefully. But when her parents returned, the little girl had disappeared. The case occupied the English newspapers for 15 years.

Recent developments have brought this issue back to the fore. Julia, a young woman living in Poland and of German descent, claimed to be Madeleine McCann. If she claimed this for several weeks, Julia finally ended up retracting her statements.

She had to leave Poland after receiving death threats, but she agreed to undergo a DNA test. But while waiting for the results, Ava-X, a Swiss company that specializes in artificial intelligence and relies on facial recognition, has taken the lead according to The Independent.

For Ava-X, the results are “90% certain”: Julia is not Maddie. “It is virtually impossible for a young Polish man to be Maddie,” Christian Verlaine, head of Ava-X at Blick, stated, before adding: “No match can be found (…) You can avoid DNA tests”.
