Lio again on The Voice Belgium: “It’s good to see this generation of strong female singers take on misogyny”

With Axelle Red, Lara Fabian and Maurane, I was part of a generation of Belgian artists who made Belgium shine all over the world. Now there are Stromae and Angèle. What do you think of this new generation?

I am so happy that the next generation is coming. I, when I saw Stromae arrive, found him exceptional from the start. Then there, really, it was more like a fan. When he sang a song, we all had ghosts. I thought it was smart to be able to recover the moment I lived in it. Commitment too, I love it. And it is true, I find it in Stromae, but I also find it strongly in Angèle. Since he has so much grace, as well as all his strength and all his talents, one would only wish to be a graceful little thing, a little titmouse. But she is strong, she is strong! It’s a huge talent. I’m also a huge fan of Clara Luciani, Juliette Armant and Hoshi. It’s so good to see all these strong women confronting misogyny in so many rap songs. It’s really rap, urban music, as they say, the most popular and often misogynistic.
