Inquiry – Cold Case: What happened to Guilherme and José Doris da Silva who have been missing since 2001?

The mystery has been going on for over 21 years. Since May 25, 2001, a question has haunted the da Silva family, who now live in Porto (Portugal): where did José and Guilherme Doares da Silva go? On that day, the two brothers of Portuguese origin seem to have disappeared, when they had to go to a building in the upscale 7ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, to renovate an apartment.

“Sometimes I wish my father was in the cemetery. I have no place to meditate. No place to put flowers. I still don’t know what happened to him. He is no longer alive, but he doesn’t even have the right to his final resting place.”Leonor Rodriguez, daughter of Guilherme, testifies in the 20H report of TF1 in the introduction to the article.

At the construction site, the two brothers – inseparable – leave behind neither a farewell note nor clues to identify their potential attackers. There are no longer traces of their little house in Saint-Léger-en-Yvelines, about sixty kilometers from Paris, where they lived together. Two decades later, the town’s unknown sheriff sees this unexplained disappearance as a scar. “We always think about it. It’s something beyond what we’re used to seeing in a small village like ours. I’d like to know what happened to them.”Jean-Pierre Guiboudeau explains.

The closed-circuit television cameras of the Ile-de-France transport networks did not record any image of the two brothers. Numerous excavations were organized in the lakes and forests of the region, but to no avail. The bodies of the two brothers still cannot be traced.
