Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy launches Spider-Free mode

If you’re like Ron Weasley afraid of dead spiders, never fear: game developer Hogwarts LegacyAvalanche Software, I thought of you! An update to the game’s accessibility features includes an arachnophobia mode.

In this version of the game, enemy spiders change their appearance, their howls are reduced or even removed, as well as knockdown effects for smaller spiders. The bodies of these eight legged creatures also became invisible.

Players who have this mode enabled will instead see an enemy with red eyes, surrounded by floating roller skates.

These slip-on accessories are a nod to a scene Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, in which witches and wizards face their greatest fears through deception. Ron Wesley took the form of a spider, which he mocked by putting roller skates on his eight legs.

To enable the arachnophobia mode, simply access the accessibility settings of the game.

However, the creators of the game do not remove all spiders from Hogwarts Legacy. The field guide, for example, has not changed.

This update comes at the same time as the title’s launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The game is already available on PC and Xbox Series X / S consoles, as well as the PlayStation 5 console since February. The Nintendo Switch console is scheduled to be released on July 25th.
