Highest female ranking: Jose Araujo, Namur's new coach

Lavenir Namur announced, on Friday, the arrival of Jose Araujo, 42, from Coimbra, the club he coached, who had just spent eight years at Arad in Romania. The 2014 championship winner and a regular podium finisher, he was sacked last March when Arad finished third in the championship. “He has great international experience, while being sensitive to training. That’s why his profile interested us,” Namur president Jean-Francois Davreux justified in the Sudpresse group newspapers on Saturday. José Araujo was also an assistant in the Portuguese national team for 12 years. He succeeded in Namur to Aurélien Garraux whose contract was not extended. And the young coach of Namur arrived at the dawn of this season, succeeding Philip Moustadagh. Namur finished the season in third place, losing in the semi-finals of the playoffs against Kangoeroes Mechelen, the future champion. (Belga)
