For Putin, this is always the fault of others

With Vladimir Putin, what always goes wrong is someone else’s.

However, the war in Ukraine was well and truly started by Russia, with its annexation of Crimea, then part of Donbass, and then its conquest of other Ukrainian lands. Russia is clearly the aggressor and invader.

Putin has indicated that he wants to reclaim the former territories of the Soviet Union and beyond.

The United States and its allies have come to Ukraine’s defense.

Russian accusations

It doesn’t matter, this morning Putin is accusing the United States of waging an indirect war against Russia.

He also accuses them of prolonging the conflict in Ukraine, because without Allied weapons, the war would end. Indeed, the Ukrainians would then be defeated and other countries neighboring Russia would tremble to suffer the same fate.

It is easy for citizens living in democratic countries to refute Putin’s bogus arguments.

Russian propaganda

But the people of several dictatorships do not have this luxury, starting with the Russians themselves.

This propaganda finds an audience in developing countries. It seeps into the mail from newspaper readers around the world as brave souls attempt to put Washington and Moscow on an equal footing, or even worse, to reconsider American policies in Vietnam or Iraq, to discredit the United States.

They forgot that the American people ended up ousting the leaders who created these policies. They also forgot that these policies were criticized at the time they were implemented and have now lost their credibility.

There will always be people who will defend Putin and other dictators. People who, unlike in Russia or China, are not threatened with going to jail for expressing their opinions.

However, the Russian leaders have nothing hidden in their false propaganda.
