Fireac. Genealogy: An Exciting Science

Fireac. Genealogy: An Exciting Science

On Saturday March 24th, the Uxello cinema in Vayrac hosted a conference organized by the Saint-Michel Passion Association at the initiative of Colette Laprévôte. Every week, she leads a genealogy workshop in the town hall of Saint-Michel-de-Banieres. The topic was “Genealogy: A Family Affair?” And the question mark did not fail to interest many viewers and fans of family stories. Speaker Julien Vergne brilliantly led his well-documented and terrific intervention! With him, the public has traveled back in time to 10,000 years before our era where 4 million men lived at the origins of our genealogies! Since 1700 the world’s population has increased dramatically, and this is associated with better living conditions. The important thing, then, is to maintain or even improve one’s status in a highly hierarchical society. Julien Vergne pointed out that the Council of Trent (1545-1563), which aimed to list the seven secrets that limit the life of each individual, and the Edict of Villers-Cotterêts (1539), which imposed the French language in the formulation of acts, allows us today to consult the precious records to know Our ancestors better. A friendship drink stirred by several closed exchanges this fine afternoon.

Saint-Michel Passion would like to thank the Ciné-Spectacles l’Uxello Association for making room available for this conference.
