On 17 October 2023, the Federation of Belgian Business (FEB) had the honor of welcoming the President of Portugal, His Excellency Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as part of his state visit to Belgium. At the invitation of Rene Branders, President of the European Investment Bank, and Peter Timmermans, CEO of the European Investment Bank, the Portuguese leader and his accompanying delegation visited the National Economic Union to exchange views on the economic situation.
From October 16 to 19, His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic received an invitation from Their Majesties the King and Queen of Belgium to pay a state visit, five years after the Belgian Kings visited the country. In the midst of a busy agenda, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Foreign Minister João Gomez Cravinho visited the FEB to introduce the employers' organization and discuss the economic situation in Belgium. Opportunities to enhance economic cooperation between Belgium and Portugal were also discussed.
Official visits are valuable to our country and its economic influence. It allows us to strengthen relationships with our international partners. Moreover, in these times of geopolitical turmoil, it is crucial that we diversify our exports and imports, in the interests of prosperity and job creation.
