Even after the Portuguese’s departure, Ten Hag’s strictness towards Ronaldo continued at Manchester United.
We know that Erik ten Hag never liked Cristiano Ronaldo. Throughout their collaboration at Manchester United, he never gave the Portuguese striker a gift. We thought the CR7’s departure would stop this cruelty, it just isn’t. The Dutch coach is once again targeting the Portuguese by creating the ‘Ronaldo base’.
Ten Hag blasts Ronaldo with his new base
The richest club in the world, Manchester United used to offer some impressive salaries to attract the big names. But Erik ten Hag decided to put an end to this largesse in the budget. He has already instituted a new salary rule: salaries for all new Mancunian contracts will now be capped at €227,000 per week.
The aim of this new restriction, according to the Dutch coach, is to avoid a culture of jealousy inside the dressing room. In this sense, and to deal with his former striker again, he called this protocol the “Ronaldo Rule”. He points out on this occasion that the Portuguese has fueled greed among his colleagues, and that he has been paid too much. Once again though CR7 left for victory.
The entire locker room will soon be affected
The first player to face this new reality is Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea. At the end of the contract in the summer, a person who today receives 375,000 euros per week must significantly reduce his salary if he wants to extend it to Red Devils. A take-it-or-leave-it offer, for example, that Bruno Fernandes had already accepted last season.
They are not the only ones in the case. Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Casemiro are three other key players who have already passed under these new circumstances, which have been around since July. They will also be penalized if they do not qualify for the Champions League. Luke Shaw, whose contract expires in 2024, will soon be offered the same terms.
