European Literature Night 2023 (03.06.2023)

An intense literary evening in the capital will once again offer the public the opportunity to attend free theatrical readings of works by contemporary European authors, interpreted by Portuguese actors.

In the Intendente district of Lisbon, it will be possible to discover works ranging from novels to poetry, and from theater to comics, between 7pm and 11:30pm. This year’s program includes topics such as feminism, revolution, dogmas and their deconstruction, war, rebellion, family drama or overcoming limitations in an ever-changing society.

Phased readings, lasting 10 to 15 minutes, will take place in unusual locations that are not always accessible to the public. It is therefore a unique opportunity to discover spaces such as the Fábrica de Torrefação Cafés Negrita, the Hotel Palácio do Visconde, the laboratory and workshop of FabLab Lisboa, the Junta de Freguesia de Arroios square, or the still playing field and halls of the Associação Pró-Infância Santo António de Lisboa, among many others .

France at the Night of European Literature

The French proposal is the book “The Life of Plants. The Metaphysics of Mixture ”by Emmanuel Coccia, philosopher and professor at the École Graduate School of Paris, whose thought is rooted in a wide range of disciplines: chemistry and botany, semiotics, theology, law, art theory, ecology and above all Philosophy.

Actress Jacqueline Corrado will revive this article, translated into 10 languages, in which the writer tries to revive the ideas that were born after five years of her contemplation of nature, her silence, and her apparent indifference to everything we call culture.

Luso-French, Jacqueline Corrado has worked with theater and film directors for shorts, films and series internationally. She sang with musical groups (jazz, bossa, fado, pop) and participated in singing, dancing and theatrical performances. She recently played a role in the film “Alma Viva” by Cristel Alves Mera, which was selected for the Critics’ Week in Cannes, and won more than ten awards. She represented Portugal at the 2022 Academy Awards. Jacqueline was nominated for the 2023 Sofia Awards. Best Supporting Actress .

Participation France will be held in Galeria FOCO where the exhibition AD MIRE by French artist Pauline Gurier It will be submitted until June 24.
