Dwayne Haskins: Washington soccer team releases quarterback after seating rules and Covid-19 are violated

“I met with Dwayne this afternoon and told him that we will release him,” Washington coach Ron Rivera said in a statement.

“I told him that I think it would be beneficial for both parties to go our separate ways. We want to thank Dwayne for his contributions in the past two seasons and wish him all the best in moving forward.”

Haskins was put on the bench during Washington’s loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

His demotion came after a tumultuous week that saw Haskins lose his role as one of Washington’s leaders and was fined an undisclosed sum for violating the Covid-19 team’s protocols.

Washington demoted and fined Haskins after learning the team of posts on social media showing the 23-year-old without a mask while attending his girlfriend’s birthday party.

The Covid 19 from the NFL The protocol prohibits players from being in indoor restaurants or bars with more than 10 other people.
