Diplomacy: Annick Josiane Capit Baku, the new Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Portugal presents her credentials

Ambassador Annick Josiane Capit Baku, former Consul General of Côte d’Ivoire in New York, presented her credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Côte d’Ivoire to Portugal to President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Agoda National Palace in Lisbon.

Discussions with the Portuguese President made it possible to discuss some cooperation agreements and the urgent need to adapt them to the realities of the moment.

Ambassador Annick Josiane Capet Baku welcomed the bonds of friendship and excellent relations that exist between the two countries. On behalf of the Ivorian authorities, she expressed her gratitude to the Portuguese authorities, and also requested their strong participation in the process of social and economic development. from Côte d’Ivoire.

Bilateral relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Portugal, which date back to January 29, 1975, are close and friendly.

At the political level, cooperation is very active, especially through the frequent exchange of letters and invitations reciprocally addressed to higher authorities on the one hand. In addition, at the economic level, relations are dominated by the creation of more and more Portuguese operators in various fields in Côte d’Ivoire. Portuguese expertise in transport and communication infrastructure, sanitation, agri-food, metallurgical industries and maritime transport are important sectors that the two countries should develop further.
