Cristiano Ronaldo says he feels betrayed by Manchester United and Erik ten Hag

In an interview with British host Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner explained that he is going through a complicated season. The Dutch coach, who arrived at the head of the Red Devils last May, has given him little time to play.

The Portuguese was not even in the squad for Sunday’s Premier League match, which he won 2-1 at Fulham.

I don’t respect him because he doesn’t show me any respectdropped on the famous British television broadcaster.

Not just the coach, but two other players around the club. I feel betrayed.

And the host asked him if the Manchester United administration was trying to abandon him, the Portuguese replied, about to leave for the Qatar World Cup: Yes, I was betrayed and felt that some people didn’t want me here, not only this season but last season as well.

The Portuguese international, after taking charge of Real Madrid and going through the Juventus Turin experience, returned to Manchester United in August 2021. Without returning to the glorious years of his first term, under the tutelage of Alex Ferguson.

Then the Red Devils won three titles in the English Premier League and the Champions League, and Ronaldo received his first award out of five Golden Balls.

Last season, Manchester United fell to sixth place in the Premier League, and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Then the media reported that Ronaldo tried in vain to find another club, for which he could nominate himself in the most prestigious European competitions.

Since Sir Alex left, I haven’t seen any development at the club. Nothing has changedRonaldo said.

I want the best for this club, which is why I came to Manchester United. But there are internal elements that do not help us reach the top of (Manchester) City, Liverpool and even Arsenal (…) but a club of this size should be at the top of the hierarchy and unfortunately it is not.

Manchester United are currently fifth in the English Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
