CES 2023 – TCL C845 TV: successor to C835 moves to 20,000 small LEDs and 2,000 zones

Like every year, TCL renews its lineup of TVs. The Chinese manufacturer is taking advantage of CES 2023 to announce the arrival of the C845, which is the successor to the very good C835 we tested. The C835’s 288-zone Mini-LED system has been replaced by a Mini-LED backlight system with 20,000 micro LEDs managed in 2,000 separate zones. TCL therefore announces a peak brightness of 20 to 30%, which could make it possible to reach 1500 cd / m².

For the rest, it retains a 144Hz VA LCD panel that displays Ultra HD definition, compatibility with all HDR formats (HDR10, HLG, HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ), Google TV system with a microphone built into the TV for hands-free control, plus HDMI connectivity. 2.1 with support for VRR, ALLM and FreeSync. The novelty comes from the compatibility of DTS Virtual: X as well as Dolby Atmos, as well as the presence of wifi 6 (802.11ax). As on the C835, the TV stand is still height adjustable in two positions so you can move the soundbar there.

The TCL C845 TV will be available in 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98-inch versions from May 2023. Prices are expected to start at €1,000 for the 55-inch version and exceed €5,000 for the 98-inch version. At the advertised prices, Oled models like the LG C2 look more attractive, but TCL has a habit of offering deep discounts that make their TVs very interesting in terms of value for money.
