The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) considers Mr. DeSantis’ political strategies “anti-African.”

“The governor and the state of Florida have shown that African Americans are not welcome in the state of Florida,” the group said in a statement released on Saturday.

The statement cited several of the 44-year-old governor’s controversial policies, including a law he approved last Monday that bars colleges from spending public money on diversity, equality and inclusion efforts.

Florida’s governor also signed the “Stop WOKE” law, which limits how schools discuss race during required training or instruction, and banned an advanced-level African-American studies course in state-run public schools because he said it lacked “educational value.” “

The governor is expected to enter the 2024 presidential race this week, according to CNN. He must then compete with Donald Trump in the primaries to be at the helm of the Republican Party.
