Agreement between Flamengo and Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira

The Brazilian club, which recently won the Libertadores Cup, announced on Tuesday that Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira will lead Flamengo next season.

And the Rio de Janeiro club wrote on Twitter, “Flamengo has reached an agreement with coach Vitor Pereira to lead the professional team in 2023.” Pereira, 54, has not had a contract since his departure from Corinthians in Sao Paulo in November, with whom he had an unfortunate final in the Brazilian Cup last month, namely against Flamengo. Assistant compatriot Andre Villas-Boas at FC Porto during the historic triple tournament – Coupe – Europa League (2011), then succeeded his coach, and achieved the national title twice in a row (2012 and 2013). Then he worked in Greece, in Olympiacos, in Turkey, in Fenerbahce, and in China, in Shanghai SIPG. With Corinthians, who hired him in February, the Portuguese has a record of 26 wins, 21 draws and 17 losses. Flamengo, the most famous Brazilian club, played in three of the last four Libertadores Cup finals, South America tied the European Champions League, and won the title in 2019 and this year, after losing to Palmeiras in 2021.
