Accused of putting his grandmother alive in the fridge

A Georgia man has been accused in recent days of killing his grandmother by putting her alive in a freezer.

Police found the body of 82-year-old Doris Cumming Thursday evening in the Armucci home she shares with her 29-year-old grandson, Robert Keith Tencher III.

The latter has been charged with murder, assault and concealment of a body and is in custody pending his next appearance, USA TODAY reports.

Floyd County police believe the elderly woman cut herself last December when she fell.

Instead of helping her, her grandson decided to drag her across the apartment.

He was going to tell investigators that he “heard and saw that many of his bones were broken.”

Then he would put his grandmother in plastic bags before putting them in a big freezer.

“Based on what has been identified at this time, the accused believes she was still breathing and moving when she was placed in the refrigerator,” Police Officer Brittany Werner told WAGA TV.

The young man continued to live with the corpse for several months before moving the freezer for some time to the storage unit.

Robert Keith Tencher III made it clear that no argument led to this drama and that he loved his grandmother very much.

“He said she was the only member of his family who didn’t give him the love and attention he needed,” Werner said.

An autopsy was ordered to find out the exact circumstances of his death.
