An interest in science from an early age is the goal of the Young Researchers’ Meetings, which will take place this Thursday, May 11 at the IUT of Bourges.
Mathieu Bovis, Professor of Physics and Chemistry at Lycée Jacques Cours, responsible for scientific and technical culture, has been organizing this event since 2009. Students will present a science experiment they developed with their teacher during the year.
During the day you will be greeted by seven establishments, of different categories, ranging from CP to terminale. The primary school in Bourges takes all its classes, including the Virginie Demay school. A teacher at CE1, this is the fourth year that she has been participating in Young Researchers meetings with her class. “It allows students to consolidate their knowledge of science, to wonder about the world around them, and to engage with other students. It’s a great day out for them.”
A café for parents in Bourges to talk about screen use among children
In his class, children participate for the first time. “We made a water mill, a cargo crane that runs with the wind, or even spiders that advance by blowing on them…”. Lots of experiments to explain the work of wind power and hydraulic power. To help them in their work, a science student in Orléans came to see them. Then they will be able to present what they have done, on their platform, to other students of SHARE. And you can tell they are looking forward to it. “We love science and are excited to show what we’ve done at IUT,” CE1 students explained.
Pressavois School works on renewable energies, a theme that goes along with its eco-school brand, which includes an educational program for sustainable development. The College of Littré and the School of Auron, in Bourges, worked on the subject, and the College of Voltaire, in Saint-Florent-sur-Cher, dealt with astronomy.
Presenters and visitors
Students will be presenters and visitors. There are 30-minute time periods. Either they will be in their position to show their experience, or they will discover another.
