14 cases of dengue have been reported in Reunion

With the advent of the Australian winter and its weather conditions (less rainfall and mild temperatures), a sharp decrease in mosquitoes is observed on the island, thus slowing down the spread of the dengue virus.
In order to avoid a resumption of the epidemic with the arrival of next summer, Reunionese are encouraged to take advantage of winter in Australia to avoid installing mosquito lodges in their yards and gardens.   • 1169 confirmed cases
  • 173 emergency visits
  • 58 hospitalization

The cases were distributed during the relevant period to 7 municipalities as follows:

  • South (7 cases): Saint-Pierre, Saint-Joseph, Petite-El
  • West (7 cases): La Possession, Saint Paul, Saint Leo, Le Port

Furthermore, no aggregation of cases was identified during the period.

Campaign “Tips for a Mosquito Free Home”

In order to reduce the risk of an epidemic of dengue fever at the end of the winter season, ARS La Réunion and the Prefecture are launching a digital communications campaign entitled “Let’s Enjoy Winter: Tips for a Mosquito-Free Home”.
The goal is to eliminate all situations that favor mosquitoes spreading around your home.
